My background includes book publishing, curating, internet project management, hands-on coding, marketing, non-profit management and governance, database work, strategic planning and quite a few other things.
The "quite a few other things" above includes running a literary magazine and organizing well-attended readings (in 1979), freelancing for a community entertainment weekly (1980), performing with a band that toured and self-released two records (1980-1982), public art installations, co-founding a non-profit art gallery (founded in 1986, Artspeak Gallery is still exhibiting and publishing today, and I was a board member for a few years starting in the late 1990s), founded an organization for BC artists' centres (1989, now called PAARC), wrote and published some art criticism and articles about cultural policy along the way, and even spoke at two or three public rallies. One of my continuing projects is a web site documenting some distinctive Vancouver residential architecture.
From 2010 to early 2019, I was director of UNIT/PITT Projects, and also operate Publication Studio Vancouver/Bookmachine Editions with Kathy Slade.
